If we are talking “verbally”, letting someone know that we love them is quite simple and easy. But just like our beloved companions, we can also have a hard time while showing our emotions if we are too shy to talk.
If I were given 5 dollars for all the signs of affection I have missed until now, I could probably build my own animal shelter.
In a world where we miss these obvious signs from other human beings, how can we tell if our dogs love us? They will not come up and say “hey, I love you!” so it is important to notice the signs of love they show. Some of them may even be the everyday things that they do.
Let’s take a look at what our good boys and girls do to let us know that we are their best friend in life!
5- If they welcome you when you get home with a big smile
Hey, you have been gone all day and I have missed you a lot! That’s what dogs try to say when they greet you with a huge grin on their faces. Heck, they may even pee a little just out of pure excitement of seeing you!
Right after getting their initial hug, they may run off to get their favorite toy and start making up for all the time that you were gone for by playing some games!
4- If they smile at you
There are some scientific research projects going on to determine whether dogs can actually laugh or not. And most claim that they cannot. But they all tend to agree on the fact that dogs appear to be smiling when they are relaxed and happy.
They may also smile back when we are smiling to them which surely warms the heart. If your dog is smiling and also moving its tail, you can be sure that it is having the time of its life!

3- If they want to sleep in the same room as you
This may cause problems if your gigantic fellow wants to sleep on the bed. However, wanting to sleep in the same room is a very strong signal of loyalty. It also shows that your dog considers you and itself as its pack and it just does not want to get separated from the pack.
Seriously, how much cuter can they get? You and your dog versus the world!
2- If they hold eye contact with you
We tend to look away when we are uncomfortable or frightened. You would not hold eye contact with someone who makes you uncomfortable, would you?
The same goes for dogs as well, holding eye contact means they respect and love you. However, do not go out of your way to force eye contact as it may make them feel disturbed, just keep it natural and go with the flow.
Holding eye contact is also very important during the training of a dog, it is basically a sign of mutual respect.
1- If they lean against you and beg to be petted
This one is probably the most obvious sign out there. The same applies to us as well, isn’t laying on someone you love’s legs, after a tiring day at work, one of the best feelings in the world?
Dogs mostly want attention from people that they love and are bonded with, so if your dog randomly walks into the roam and leans against you, it means that it wants some of your love to continue its day!
